The England manager Questions Home Fan Atmosphere Despite Dominant Win Over Wales.

The England head coach shared his disappointment that the England team did not enjoy more backing from the home fans during their commanding friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was happy to see his side continue their strong performance, with goals from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the initial stages effectively ending the contest. Yet, he was not content with the mood at the iconic venue.

“With one and a half training days to prepare against a drilled team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel remarked. “We could have been 5-0 up at the break. We missed the fourth and fifth goals. It was quiet. We didn’t get support back from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you deliver in 20 minutes? We prevented them escape. When you only hear just Wales fans for 30 minutes, it’s sad because the squad deserved better encouragement today.”

“I support my words. We cannot do more than being 3-0 in a rivalry match. I would have wished for a little more support in moments where it becomes tough.”

“In the second half, to support us, there was excessive backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to refocus, but that’s football and so be it.”

Squad Decisions Vindicated by Display

Away from potentially starting a fight with supporters, Tuchel also caused a stir by omitting Bellingham and Phil Foden from his squad. Yet the decision was backed up by Rogers excelling in the No 10 position and netting his first international goal.

“He is what he is,” the head coach explained. “He is a No 10 and he is competing for his spot.”

Bellamy Seeks Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy hopes that Wales, who host a strong Belgian side in a important qualifying match on next week, improve after their poor first-half display.

“That’s the reason I scheduled this game,” the manager said. “I wanted to assess where we are. What are our ambitions? What is our identity? Today fills me with drive.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Watkins was taken off at half-time after hitting a post and may miss out when the national team face their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on Tuesday.
