Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A circulating false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their complaint alleges that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
